Highlands Ranch, CO · Family-owned
Fire pits, outdoor kitchens, seating walls, covered patios, and full backyard builds — outdoor rooms made for Highlands Ranch. Built for our clay, wind, and hail, and ready for the HRCA rules. Built by Jon & Janessa Lang.
Built for the Ranch
We build outdoor living spaces all over Highlands Ranch — from the walkout lots in Southridge that back the Backcountry Wilderness to the gated streets of BackCountry. Up here, your backyard isn't just grass. It's a fire pit on a fall night, a kitchen for game day, and a covered spot that frames Pikes Peak and Longs Peak.
But the ground and the weather don't make it easy. The clay swells up and lifts footings, the wind comes off the foothills, and the hail can wreck a space you just built. We build outdoor rooms that handle all of it — and we get the HRCA to say yes first.
“We were in desperate need of a new deck and patio (and just for fun we threw a custom fire pit into the mix). Our backyard has been transformed and we have John and Janessa to thank for that.”

Most outdoor spaces fail here for the same reasons: the clay, the wind, the hail, or a skipped approval. We build for all of it.
The clay under Highlands Ranch swells up when it gets wet — enough to crack a patio or push a fire pit out of place. We set footings down deep to solid ground and build on a solid base, so a wet spring can't lift it.
The wind really moves off the foothills out here, and the snow piles up wet and heavy. We anchor covered patios and shade structures deep, so they don't lean, lift, or blow down.
Highlands Ranch gets some of the worst hail anywhere on the Front Range. We build covered patios so your kitchen, fire pit, and furniture stay out of the storm — the space survives the next big one.
The HRCA Architectural Review Committee (303-471-8821) checks your plans, materials, and colors before you build. We fill out the ARC form for you — plus the extra BackCountry form if you're behind the gate — and pull your Douglas County permit (303-660-7497).
“The inspector was impressed by their system and mentioned this deck is built to withstand a hurricane.”
Dominic ValenzuelaWhat we see in Highlands Ranch backyards
After a few hundred Front Range builds, the requests from this town are predictable in the best way. Odds are yours is on this list — and we've already solved it.
A gas or wood fire pit turns a cold Highlands Ranch evening into the best seat in the yard. We build it on a solid base that won't crack or shift in the clay, and run the gas line the right way with the county permit handled.
A built-in grill, counter, and storage means you're not running in and out of the house. We build outdoor kitchens with tough surfaces that take the strong sun and the hail, and tuck them under a cover so you can use them in any weather.
On the walkout lots in Firelight and The Hearth that back the Backcountry Wilderness, the whole reason you bought the house is the view. We build low seating walls that give you extra seats without blocking your look at Pikes Peak and Longs Peak.
If you've patched a roof or a deck after a storm, you're not alone. We build covered patios so you get shade in the summer and a roof over your head when the hail comes — and the whole space survives the next big one.
BackCountry has its own design review on top of the HRCA — a separate form, looked at every two weeks. We've done it before and handle both, so your outdoor room doesn't stall in paperwork.
A lot of folks here want a deck, a fire pit, a kitchen, and a cover all together — one outdoor room that flows. One crew, one schedule, one bill — and it all matches when we're done.
